Profile : Rena Frye, Ph.D.
Dr. Frye is a licensed psychologist in Washington State and has varied interest and experience in the behavioral health field. Her background includes working with individuals with PTSD, anxiety, depression and chronic pain. She is also a licensed mental health counselor and a certified hypnotherapist. Her research interest lies in the psychological aspects of chronic pain including demoralization and depression.
Dr. Frye holds a Ph.D. in clinical psychology from Seattle Pacific University and a Masters of Arts in Rehabilitation Counseling from Seattle University. In her Ph.D. program, she followed the health psychology track, offering her the opportunity to work with persons with a variety of health issues including those with arthritis, multiple sclerosis, cancer and chronic pain. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Secondary Education from Southern Oregon State University.
Dr. Frye has been in the rehabilitation counseling field since 1988. Fourteen of those years were spent as a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor providing vocational services to injured workers and veterans. During her training and experience as a mental health counselor and psychologist, she has worked in in-patient and out-patient settings offering group, family, couple and individual counseling. She also has extensive experience administering psychological and neuropsychological assessments. She opened a private practice in 2004 and continues to provide counseling services in that capacity.
