Biography

Dr. Neiders joined UBC, Inc. in 1987; her tenure here includes positions as a researcher and counselor, Treatment Team Coordinator, Clinic Administrator and a member of the Board of Directors. She has served as Board Secretary, Vice-President and, since 2001, President of the Board. In 1990, she became UBC’s Chief Executive Officer. She is also a registered Vocational Counselor with the State of Washington. She has been involved in the pain management field for most of her career, and was Outpatient Unit Administrator for Swedish Hospital’s outpatient pain management program prior to joining UBC.

Education

Dr. Neiders's education profile includes a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from the University of Washington where she went on to earn an MSW in Community and Organizational Services and her Ph.D. in Social Welfare, which focused on predicting return-to-work for injured workers. Her specialization is in behavioral medicine with an emphasis on chronic pain rehabilitation. The title of her 1990 doctoral thesis was: An Analysis of Indicators in Predicting Return to Work for Chronic Back Pain Sufferers.

Professional Background

Dr. Neiders has been working in the healthcare field since 1976 and has both a clinical and administrative background. For most of her career she has been involved with interdisciplinary treatment for the injured worker. She is active in a number of professional and community groups as Vice President of the Washington State Pain Interest Consortium, a member of Professionals in Workers’ Compensation, the Evergreen Safety Council, Medical Group Management Association (MGMA), and Washington Self Insured Association among others. She has been invited to participate in a number of Department of Labor and Industries task force projects regarding injured workers and return to work. Dr. Neiders has been both an organizer and speaker at numerous public and professional conferences, seminars and panel discussions regarding rehabilitation for the injured worker. For the past six years, she has focused on educational presentations for physician groups and other professionals on chronic pain management, injured workers and return-to-work rehabilitation.
